Iranian army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia says the country’s air-defence capabilities are in a better state now than when the US-Israeli war began in February.

He said new equipment had been introduced into combat units and that the air-defence force had developed and implemented new operational plans. Akrami-Nia also claimed Iranian forces had shot down several US drones in recent weeks.

The remarks present Tehran’s assessment of its military readiness. The spokesperson did not publicly detail the equipment added or provide information that would independently establish the number and circumstances of the claimed drone interceptions.

Iran’s statement points to efforts to adapt after the early phase of the conflict, but the extent of any recovery in its air-defence network remains difficult to assess from the announcement alone. Its claims about recent shootdowns have not been independently verified.
