Iran Strike Damages Kuwait Power and Desalination Plant Amid Rising Gulf Tensions
An Iranian aerial attack damaged a power generation and water desalination facility in Kuwait, raising concerns over electricity and water supplies amid growing regional tensions.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the strike caused a fire and damaged parts of the facility and several power generation units. Emergency teams contained the fire, while technicians worked to restore operations.
The government urged residents to reduce electricity and water consumption during the crisis. Kuwait, one of the world’s most water-stressed countries, relies heavily on desalination plants for drinking water.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it targeted US military facilities in Kuwait, while Kuwaiti officials condemned the attack as a violation of national sovereignty. The incident comes amid escalating exchanges between Iran and the United States across the Gulf region.
