Israeli Airstrikes Kill Five in Gaza Despite Ceasefire, Medics Report
Israeli airstrikes killed at least five Palestinians in Gaza on Monday, according to Palestinian health officials and medics.
Two people were killed and several others wounded when a strike hit a crowd near a public park in Gaza City, an area where many displaced families have gathered. Later, another Israeli strike targeted a vehicle in the Tel Al-Hawa neighbourhood, killing at least three people.
The Israeli military said the strikes targeted Hamas fighters but provided no further details.
Relatives of the victims gathered at Al Shifa Hospital for funerals. One mourner said residents remain fearful despite the ceasefire, describing constant drone sounds and insecurity.
A US-backed ceasefire that began in October 2025 ended the most intense fighting but has not stopped Israeli military strikes. Gaza health officials say more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire began.
