Israeli Strikes in Gaza Killed Four Children in Five Days, UNICEF Says

Four children were killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza over five days, while several others suffered life-changing injuries, UNICEF said.

According to UNICEF, the children killed were between two and 16 years old and died in separate incidents, including one who succumbed to injuries sustained in an earlier strike.

The UN agency also reported that five children aged between eight and 17 were wounded by live fire or shrapnel following strikes on Tuesday. UNICEF said the injuries could have lifelong consequences.

Humanitarian infrastructure was also damaged. A warehouse operated by a UNICEF partner was heavily hit, destroying more than $770,000 worth of nutritional supplies intended for more than 45,000 children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

A UNICEF-supported water well and desalination facility in Deir al-Balah, serving more than 4,000 people, was also severely damaged. Water is now being transported from alternative sources.

The UN said an explosive munition detonated around 30 metres from a convoy carrying fuel from Kerem Shalom as it crossed the so-called “Yellow Line” in Rafah.

UNICEF warned that the continued violence is further damaging Gaza’s already severely strained humanitarian and essential services infrastructure.
