Saudi Arabia Considers Military Response Amid Rising Houthi Threats

Saudi Arabia is considering possible military responses to growing threats from Yemen’s Houthi movement, raising concerns that fighting could return after a fragile ceasefire.

Officials and analysts say Riyadh is weighing options, including possible offensive strikes, with the United States reportedly giving Saudi Arabia greater flexibility. However, no final decision has been made.

Tensions increased after the Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of attacking Sanaa airport and responded with missile and drone strikes targeting the Saudi city of Abha. Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi warned that Saudi oil facilities and vital infrastructure could become targets if Riyadh intervenes militarily.

A renewed Saudi-Houthi conflict could worsen Yemen’s humanitarian crisis, threaten regional stability and affect energy markets. Analysts say both sides have so far avoided a full escalation, but the existing ceasefire framework remains under strain.
