Utah Suspect Arrested for Allegedly Targeting Muslim Kiosk Worker in Stabbing

A man has been arrested in Utah after allegedly stabbing a Muslim kiosk worker multiple times at a shopping mall in what police say appears to be a religion-based attack.

The incident occurred at Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City. According to court documents, investigators said the suspect admitted he targeted the victim because he was Muslim and expressed intentions to harm Muslims.

Police said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was hospitalized in critical condition. Witnesses reportedly restrained the suspect until officers arrived.

The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Peter Michael Larsen, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and weapons-related charges.

Muslim advocacy and civil rights groups condemned the attack, warning that rising anti-Muslim rhetoric, discrimination and extremist views have contributed to increased threats against Muslim communities in the United States.
