Russian attacks struck nine regions of Ukraine on Friday, killing at least eight people and injuring 60, Ukrainian officials said. The strikes hit residential and commercial areas as well as energy infrastructure, leaving more than one million people without electricity at some point during the day.
In Kharkiv, two people — a 71-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man — were killed and 12 wounded across three districts. Two people were killed in Kramatorsk and two more in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In the northwestern Volyn region, a drone hit a food-processing facility, killing one person and injuring eight.
Drones also struck a customs terminal in Kovel, where about 10 trucks caught fire. In Rivne, one person died and seven were injured when a shopping centre and other sites were hit. A shopping centre in Sumy was also struck.
Ukraine’s energy ministry said repair crews restored electricity to more than one million people affected by outages. In Volyn, around 370,000 households lost power, with service restored to at least 100,000. The mayor of Lutsk warned that the blackout in the regional capital could last at least 24 hours. Large parts of Rivne were also left without electricity.
