At least five Palestinians, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza on Monday, October 26, while more than a dozen people were wounded, according to local medical sources and first responders.
Four people died after an air attack hit a camp for displaced people in the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza, medical sources said. The dead included Jouri al-Soufi, a seven-year-old child, as well as Hossam al-Zamli, 21, and Tamer Abu Sneima, 24. Nasser Hospital confirmed the deaths, with the toll at the site rising from three to at least four as more information emerged.
A separate Israeli drone attack in Gaza City’s Remal neighbourhood killed a man among displaced people sheltering in a tent, according to Al-Shifa Hospital and the Palestinian news agency Wafa. Others were wounded in the strike.
More casualties reported over 24 hours
Palestinian Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said Israeli fire and air attacks had killed 11 people and wounded 50 across Gaza in the preceding 24 hours. The figure covered incidents beyond the two attacks described above.
The attacks took place amid continuing violence despite the ceasefire announced in October 2025. Medical sources said that by October 26 the overall death toll in Gaza since the war began had reached 74,555, with 175,727 people reported injured. They said 1,559 people had been killed since the ceasefire began. Those figures are attributed to Gaza medical authorities and can change as hospitals update records.
Displacement compounds the danger
The previous night, a fire destroyed tents at a separate displacement site near the Shujayea junction in Gaza City. Gaza officials said more than 200 families, or over 800 people, lost their immediate shelter. The fire and Monday’s fatal attacks were separate incidents, but both underscore the risks facing civilians living in temporary camps.
Rescue teams have repeatedly warned that damage, insecurity and limited access make it difficult to reach victims and provide timely assistance across the enclave.
