Sudan Electricity Holding Company said drone strikes on October 26 damaged five power substations and caused widespread outages. The state-owned company attributed the attacks to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The claim has not been independently confirmed, and the RSF did not provide a detailed response.
The named sites were Al-Junayd in Al-Jazirah state; Singa in Sennar; Al-Faw and Al-Hawata in Al-Qadarif; and Mashkour in White Nile state. The four states are generally under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which has been fighting the RSF since 2023.
The company said the strikes damaged critical electricity infrastructure and disrupted supplies, but did not give a full account of the damage or say when service would be restored. It also did not specify how many customers were affected or report casualties.
The four states had a combined estimated population of about 14.1 million in 2024. That figure describes the wider population of the states, not the number of people confirmed to have lost power. The outages add pressure to civilian services in areas already affected by the war, while the extent and duration of the disruption remain unclear.
