A civilian with a disability was killed during an Israeli forces raid on Jamla village in southern Syria’s Daraa province, Syrian state media reported on Thursday. The state news agency SANA said the man had special needs but provided few details about how he was killed.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment, according to the initial report. No further information about the man or the circumstances of the shooting was available.

Jamla lies outside the area Israel occupies along the UN-monitored buffer zone, although Israeli forces have carried out incursions into locations beyond that zone. Israel took control of territory in the buffer area after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024.

Syrian authorities have repeatedly condemned Israeli military operations in the south, describing them as violations of the country’s sovereignty. The latest account came from Syrian state media, and additional independent details about the incident had not been reported at the time of publication.
